Development Education Workshops

Details

Our facilitators will deliver 15 workshops throughout the County on Development Education/Sustainable Development Goal themes

We will hold our annual seminar on 11th April 2019.  The theme has yet to be confirmed but put the date in your diary!

Seeds of Change Small Grant Scheme

Details

We offer up to 5 small grants to community organisation to develop and deliver their own Development Education themed event.

Topics covered to date include Fairtrade, SDG awareness, Coastal and sea pollution, clean water, consumerism, impact of alcohol from a local and global perspective, social justice, clan rivers and gender equality

We have allocated our grants for this year, but please contact Kate if you would like more information and receive information for our grants for next year (subject to funding)


Accredited Training

Details

We are offering two accredited courses this year:

QQI level 4 in Local and Global Development Awareness. Location: Letterkenny
Date: Early 2019

QQI Level 5 in Intercultural Diversity.
Location: Letterkenny
Date: Early 2019

Fairtrade Towns

Details

Change Makers has supported the communities in Carndonagh and Moville to obtain and maintain Fairtrade Town Status. We are now working with Buncrana and we are aiming for Inishowen to become the first Fairtrade peninsula in Ireland

We want to work with towns and communities across the County around Fairtrade Towns, not just in Inishowen. Please contact Kate to find out more


Collaboration and Partnerships

Details

We will maintain and develop our existing partnerships with Lourdes Youth and Community Services, Children in Crossfire and Donegal Library Service.

We will develop new partnerships with organisations with compatible goals that will be of mutual benefit

We will remain an active member of the IDEA Community Sector Working Group to support the development of good practice and shared learning in adult and community development.

Change Makers mentoring Scheme

Details

As a pilot this year we are offering one to support for individuals and organisation who want to take action for a more fair and just world, but are not sure how to go about it. We will allocate you one of our highly knowledgeable and approachable facilitators who will work with you to develop your ideas and to take action. There is no charge for this support.

Development Education in Horticulture Programme

Details

Throughout the Donegal Community garden network, we will be working with 15 of the 26 Community Gardens in Donegal to offer a range of workshops related to horticultural and environmental themes.

Development Education themed event/screening at the Disappear Here film festival, Ballyliffin

Details
We are screening 3 short documentary films as part of the Disappear Here Film Festival in Ballyliffin on 29th September 2018. As part of this event we will also be hosting a facilitated discussion around the themes of the films – coastal and ocean pollution.

How to get involved

Come along on 29th September to the Ballyliffin Hotel, 4 – 5.15pm to see the films and join the discussion. . There is no fee and refreshment will be provided.


Project Monitoring and Evaluation

Details

At the heart of Change Makers is the desire for continuous learning and improvement. Every year we look for new and innovative way to evaluate the project activities, considering how we can best share our learning and experience across the Development Education Sector. We are currently planning our monitoring and evaluation activities for this year
